Video Editing

Video editing has been part of my work and my hobbies for many years.

I’ve created promotional videos, tutorials, animations, and personal projects for clients, friends, family, and now my own YouTube channel.

I enjoy shaping stories, teaching people something useful, and bringing ideas to life in a simple, friendly way.

The IMRF Awards 2019 - Ceremony Opening Video

This opening video was created for the International Maritime Rescue Federation (IMRF) to celebrate their annual awards.

The event honours the many people who save lives at sea — often quietly, bravely, and without recognition.

I felt proud to support the awards each year through both print and digital work, and especially through editing the videos that highlighted these remarkable individuals.

It meant a lot to help share their stories in a respectful and uplifting way.

Tutorial Video - How to Log on ...

This short tutorial was made for Trinity Episcopal Church Monifieth, when I rebuilt their website in 2023.

Not everyone feels confident with websites, so I created a simple video to show how to log in and make small updates.

Most of my tutorials are short and clear, often broken into small sections so people can rewatch the parts they need.

I also write step‑by‑step manuals with pictures, and I’ve taught in person when needed. I enjoy helping people feel more confident with their own websites.

YouTube Channel - The Guardian & Other Stories

Creativity gives me energy, so in Winter 2025, I started a YouTube channel to share the many short stories I’ve written since childhood. Most of them were tucked away in old notebooks, typewriter pages, and early Word documents — some unfinished, some needing a polish. It felt like the right time to finally let them out.

At the moment, I’m using AI tools, CapCut, and ClipChamp for basic editing, and I’ll move to more advanced tools as the channel grows. I aim to bring each story to life in a gentle “storybook” style.

If you enjoy the stories, you’re welcome to subscribe.

Doctor Who Fan Video - Pure Imagination

More than 12 years ago, when I first started experimenting with video editing, I made a fun tribute video inspired by Doctor Who.

The quality is old now, but it still makes me smile — it reminds me where I started and how much I’ve learned since.

Wee Man - Funky Town - Animation Adobe Flash Exercise

In 2012, after finishing my Adobe Flash course, I created a small animated cartoon to practise what I’d learned.

The character was inspired by a toy from an EDF Energy advert, and I played with different tools and backgrounds — some from Aberdeen, some from Zaltbommel in the Netherlands.

Flash may be outdated now, but the skills stayed with me. I still enjoy making simple animations using Adobe tools, Canva, and other online platforms whenever a project calls for it.

Animation is fun, and it adds a lovely extra layer to digital work.
